A force sensor is placed upside down on a table top. A magnet is placed on top of the force sensor and it gives a reading of the amount of force that is being exerted on the magnet by the earth. Then, another magnet is brought within 5cm of the magnet sitting on the sensor. What do you think will happen to the reading on the force sensor in this situation?

is this math?

OpenStudy (precal):

looks like physics

OpenStudy (phi):

If the magnets are strong enough, they can lift the one off of the sensor. so the force should read a smaller value (all the way to zero in the limit)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Got it. Okay, thank you so much!

OpenStudy (precal):

@phi is this physics?

OpenStudy (phi):

you should post this in physics

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Next time I will.

OpenStudy (precal):

Thanks phi
