Did I do this Geometry problem correctly? Satellites, Sputnik, Yeltsin, and Plekov often temporarily line up in order in a great circle. The circumference of the Earth is 24,900 miles, and the satellites orbit at about 150 miles above the surface. If, while in a great circle, Sputnik is 9,000 miles from Yeltsin is 10,500 miles from Plekov, how far apart are Sputnik and Plekov? I believe the answer's 25,842 miles. Is this correct? Thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one question... is the distance between the satellites a straight line or on a curve of the circle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Straight

I hope @vacationeer is still here to read this. :)

Oh yeah, I also have a small, simple, side question for you that no one answered earlier. Is this true in hyperbolic geometry? "Two linens parallel to a third line are parallel to each other" Thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its from point to point... directly.... lik....|dw:1355033764580:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):
