What's the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if f(x)=4x-8, what is f^-1(x)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let's do the same thing we did before.

@zordoloom

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find the inverse of any function. You start by replace the x and y variables. So in this case, You have the original function f(x)=4x-8, f(x) is also y So y=4x-8 Start by replacing x with y and y with x So x=4y-8 Now solve the equation for y.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So x=4y-8 Subtract the 4y from the right side and left side You have x-4y=-8 now subtract the x from both sides -4y=-x-8 Divide the whole equation by -4 So y=...........

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A) f^-1(x)=1/2x+2 B) f^-1(x)=1/4x+2 C) f^-1(x)=1/2x+4 D) f^-1(x)=1/4x+4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/4x+(8/4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BTW, thanks for answering my question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for answering mine (:
