Certain precautions can be taken in order to provide the maximum amount of security for a system running Windows. The initially prominent step to prevent harmful action is to effectively password protect all user accounts. This will initially prevent unauthorized users from accessing the system. Another step could be to limit user’s permissions on the system. Users will be limited in what kinds of changed they are allowed to make to the system. This not only protects the system from a mistake made by the user, but also protects it from a virus or malware attack. Users will still be able to perform the tasks they need to, and will be more secure in the process. The next step would be to implement reliable and effective firewalls. This may prevent distant unauthorized access to an individual’s computer system. Setting up reliable and trustworthy antivirus software will also help prevent a virus or spyware infection.
