Multiply both sides by 2 to get x+3=8/3 then subtract 3 x=(8/3)-3 x=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=-1/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did you get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from cale. x=(8/3)-3=(8-9)/3=-1/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u can satisfy it to know it's true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u welcome dear thanks CalebBeavers he solved it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use a proportion, and cross mulitply - looks like a butterfly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the easiest way is to cross multiply!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im still confused a little. So you mult. 4 and 2, then you do what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then multiply 3(x+3) (4)(2)=3(x+3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8 = 3x + 9 -1 = 3x x = -1/3
