area of a triangle is 1/2 base*height, so 1/2 your base=1 and your height is = to 14. the area of one of the lateral surfaces would therefore be 14 ft^2 you then multiple 14 by 3 since you have three sides to the pillar. total surface area to be painted would then equal 42 ft^2

so the answer is 42 ft^2

that's what i would put.
