In a throw ball game, Ben, Ted, Mike and John are positioned at different points, as shown below. Which of the following statements is correct? John and Ted will require a shorter pass than Mike and Ted. John and Ted will require a shorter pass than Mike and Ben. John and Ted will require a longer pass than Mike and Ben. John and Ben will require a longer pass than Mike and Ben.
@ganeshie8 can you help please?
This is a process of elimination, can you tell me what answers we can remove just by looking at the picture first?
Sorry.. I don't know what they mean by pass?
Say they were throwing a baseball at one another, that's what should be implied here by the word pass.
Would 'John and Ted will require a longer pass than Mike and Ben' be eliminated since the passes would be fairly the same?
Same thing with 'John and Ted will require a shorter pass than Mike and Ben.'
Those are actually those are the two answers we WANT to focus on. This is where the angles come in handy. Angles in triangles correspond to the side it's pointing to; this relation is the larger/smaller the angle the longer/shorter the opposite side, respectively. Can you tell me which is longer? Mike and Ben, or John and Ted based on the angle lengths?
oh wow I was completely wrong.
Don't worry, this is why we're here to help haha, so can you tell me which line is longer?
I'm getting confused now, I don't know which is longer :(
Wait is it John and Ted that's longer?
You're right, because the angle is larger, the opposite side it points to would be longer.
John and Ted will require a longer pass than Mike and Ben. :) thanks
