is cytokinesis part of the cell cycle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Somewhat, teachers may or may not consider it actually part of the cell cycle. It does occur after the cells have undergone telophase and are reforming their individual cytoplasm. It may also just be considered the first part of interphase, where the cell begins its metabolic processes after the split.

It's debated. My professors have taught me that cytokinesis is separate from mitosis.

My friends the question asks "is cytokinesis part of the cell cycle" and so the answer is yes. Cytokinesis is not part of mitosis though.

You're right. I somehow read that as "cell division," rather than "cell cycle."
