A flashlamp bulb is marked 2.5V, 0.3A and has to be operated from a dry battery of emf 3.0V for the current pd of 2.5V to be produced across it. Why?

The battery may have an internal resistance such that when the current flow the potential drop across this resistance is large enough to cause the terminal voltage to drop below 2.5 v.
