The resistor equal is 1/R, 1/r1+1/r2. What is the total resistance of a circit in which one resistors shows reistance to a current 24 ohms and the second to 8 ohms?

Draw out the circuit it be easier. Looks like it is a parallel.

How do I figure out the total resistance of them though? Do I add them together or multiply them together?

It is called equivelent circuits.
