exponential function question #2, what if f(x)=3^x-2 and y=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that 3^(x-2) or 3^x - 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sure I understand the difference... It's to the power of X-2... does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay that helps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you get 3^x-2 = 3. If you log base 3 both sides, you get x-2 = 1. Solve fore x to get x=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awesome thank you! That makes sense... I just wasn't sure if I should log both sides or not, and couldn't remember! Thank you!!!

welcome
