Is the series 2 + 3 + 4 + 5+... convergent or divergent? Is the series 2 + 10 + 50+... convergent or divergent? Is the series 1/4 -1/16+1/64 + ...convergent or divergent?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

when the numbers get bigger the series diverges

OpenStudy (anonymous):

soo all convergent?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@UnkleRhaukus

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

not all of the series have bigger and bigger terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

con con div @UnkleRhaukus

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

the series is convergent if the terms get smaller and smaller

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the first one is 2345 GOING UP 2 20 50 GOING UP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10*

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

thats why your suggested answer surprised me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

div div con last one converges caz limit of (-1)^n+1/2^2n limit goes to 0 and its decreasing therefore alternating series converges

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if u want explanation then say so :P

thanks! @masterxnonos
