Determine the value of the force exerted by the fulcrum (F) and weight to keep the bar in equilibrium. Weight is applied on the center of gravity. Image below. PLEASE DO HELP. REALLY NEED IT.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here's the picture/diagram. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hartnn @nubeer @Callisto hey guys, can you do this problem? really need ur help right now. :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in your picture are the red and green forces acting down(like gravity) and the purple is pulling up?..slash what is the 30N to the left

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you given the purple value?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup. they're all the vector forces. i mean they're all forces acting on the object.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no. we're not. sorry. :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk, so you are going to want to balance your forces in all directions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so find the force of the purple one, you know that its x component must equal the 30N since it is the only other force acting in that direction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1355325737863:dw| you want to find x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that will be the force in the y direciton due to the purple vector

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so now you have 20 and 10 forces acting down. and x and the fulcrum acting up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just balance the forces...i was about to do torque here..but i dont think you have to

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup. ;)
