how do you work out the x value when the y value is y=8.2 y=3x+1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ehm, y is "fixated" at 8.2, now solve the linear equation 8.2=3x+1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i do that

OpenStudy (nubeer):

it is written y = 8.2 now put this value of y in the second equation 8.2 = 3x +1 now rest is simple arithmatic ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but using y=3x+1 how do you work out the x value when the y value is 8.2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're using it, but your "y" has a numerical value, that's 8.2, the you just say it and replace it on your equation, then solve it.
