A lottery winner must decide between two methods of payment. Choice one is to receive a lump sum of $100,000,000. Choice two is to begin with one cent on day 1, three cents on day 2, nine cents on day three, and so on until the end of 22 days. Which choice should the lottery winner select? Using complete sentences, explain the procedure taken to answer this question.

He wants the The second choice because you are multiplying by three i believe.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But how would i figure out the process? How do you know the second one is better?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because when you go inHe is getting one cent on the first day multiply that by 3 and you get three cents. multiply that by 3 ND YOU GET 9 CENTS on the second day. The process is your multiplying the amount of money you got on the day before by 3. And eventually it adds up more then 100,000,000. So he would be getting more money going with the second choice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But wouldn't I have to move the decimal place over one since pennies are not the same value as dollars?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Idk i thought what i was doing was making since but since you said that i have no idea...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It does make sense. But it's so confusing >.< Thanks for the help!
