All other sections seem "dead" except Mathematics. Why is that? I understand that everyone takes math but don't they take history and reading too? It feels deadly venturing into subjects where no one is...
You see, history, writing, music, etc, can all be found with online resources. These topics aren't very hard to grasp. To be honest, most literary and art subjects, can be boiled down to how well you listened in class. Mathematics, unlike the topics mentioned, takes critical thinking and logical sequences. Most people aren't good with these types of things. Mathematics has many different subtopics and various equations that people are just unfamiliar with. Rather than thinking long and hard about it, they find it easier to ask for help and be guided to the solution. Now, don't get me wrong. Plenty of people go to the mathematics section to help children with math, some even go there because they want to read what others are posting or just enjoy the experience, however, the vast majority of people in that section are ones seeking guidance by OpenStudy members, peers, and staff. The entire purpose of the website is to help others and socialize.
I understand what your saying. But why the sudden influx of traffic in the math section? Before people helped others in history and reading etc. ... Now the question are like "5-13 days old" and no help is given to them? They just stay there... Doing nothing.
I believe that's because final is at hand, and we all know how harsh math finals can be, right? Everyone is flocking to that section because of it.
Ah I see. Thanks for explain. And sorry for making you type all that text :)
No problem, Frost, I don't mind helping another anime goer.
