y = – (x + 3)2+ 1 y = – (x – 3)2+ 1 y = (x – 3)2+ 1 y = (x + 3)2+ 1
What is the equation of the graph below?
The vertex general form is: y = a(x - h)^2 + k The parabola opens upwards, so you know that "a" is positive, which limits your choices to "c" and "d". The low point is when x = 3, so the part in the parentheses is "x - 3". The low point value for y is "1", so k = "+1" So, you can put it all together and easily choose between "c" and "d". And do get in the good and necessary habit of using "^2" instead of "2" as otherwise ALL your choices are wrong.
what so ur telling me all my choices are wrong then what am i supposed to choose?
You're not listening. You first correct all your choices to "^2" instead of "2" for the exponent. Then you do the analysis and choose based on the work I did for you already.
so c& d look like good candidates u said?
@tcarroll010 ??
yes?
It's all in my first post.
so the answer is c right?
Yes.
Provided that you change "2" to "^2"
