Find the volume of a square pyramid with base edges of 48 cm and a slant height of 26 cm. A. 11,520 cm3 B. 23,040 cm3 C. 7,680 cm3 D. 768 cm3 I believe the formula is V=1/3*b^2*h but i dont get any of the choices when i try to solve it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that formulas right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where b is the base and h is the height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i tried it but it kept giving me a crazy answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

show me your work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/3*48^2*26

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're subbing in the slant height, when you need to be subbing in the height.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh , okay i understand, so then how do i get the height instead of slant height?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1355609362093:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how would i put that into an equation? b/2*26?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve for h... and then put it in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's what im saying i dont understand how im supposed to solve for h

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pythagorean theorem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay , its 10 correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks so much , i got my answer , it was 7680
