Use formulas to find the lateral area and surface area of the given prism. Round your answer to the nearest whole number. A. 208 m2; 188 m2 B. 136 m2; 188 m2 C. 136 m2; 240 m2 D. 208 m2; 240 m2
It's a rectangular prism. All surfaces are rectangles. For starters, the Total Surface Area is greater than the Lateral Surface Area. Please throw out choice A immediately.
okay , will do :) what would my next step be to do?
The next step would be to take a good, close look at the first hint. You should have a good handle on the area of a rectangle. The "lateral" surface area is everthing that isn't the top or the bottom.
so then it is the middle ? im confused what formula do i need to do to figure this out?
Why do you need a formula? Reason it out. The rectangular prism has six faces. Which ones are lids or bottoms and which ones are on the sides?
so then how do i reason this out exactly , im not understanding how im supposed to get the numbers without a formula
