Problem: Sam is going to buy a shirt for $15.00 and a pair of pants for $25.00. She has to pay 7% sales tax. If Sam pays with $50 bill, how much change will she get back? Here's how I would approach it. The total purchase is $15+$25, or $40. She'll have to pay 7% tax on top of that, so the total is $40 X (1.07) that can be tricky, just remember that 0.07 is like 7%. Once you find that total amount, subtract it from $50 to determine the change. Hope that helps!
