There is an easy way to do these problems. If you are increasing by a percent, add the decimal form of the percentage to 1, then multiply. For example, We know that sales tax is 8.25% of the total amount of a sale. If we convert this into a decimal, it is 0.0825. We add this to 1, 1.0825. Now lets say that we are buying something for a dollar, we would pay 8.25 cents plus the dollar for it due to sales tax, but lets check our formula.
