It appears that in the diagram the angles AOB and DPE are congruent. Thus you know (with considering that the two circles are congruent) that AO=OB=DP=PE (the lengths, anyway). This implies that AB=DE since you know that both sides of each wedge are congruent to the sides on the other wedge, the angles between the sides of each wedge are the same, and the rate of curvature of the curve is the same.
