I drew the arrows to help. I don't know how to solve this and my textbook doesn't explain it at all. Please somebody help

Your text will most likely have a "midline theorm" somewhere. I won't go through the proof here, but in short it states that "a segment that connects the midpoints of two sides of a triangle is parallel to, and half as long as, the third side. I think your original question may be misquoted. If it is correct, then by the theorm above, AC is simply 2*FD.
