Write an inequality?
For my geometry project I had to cut and measure three different straws. Two lengths are 9 inches and 7 inches. I then had to take a pipe cleaner and connect the two straws to make an angle. I opened and closed the angle on a ruler to determine two possible lengths for the third side of the triangle and came up with 10 inches and 11 inches. I also had to find two impossible lengths that would not work for the third side of the triangle. I came up with 7 inches and 14 inches. Letting the length of the third side of the triangle be x, I need to write an inequality to show the longest and shortest possible lengths for the third side. How do I write this inequality?
\[7 \le x \le 14\]
ok
You said that two lengths you came up with are 7 inches and 14 inches. So the least you can have is equal to or less than 7, and x is between, and the longest length is 14 or less.
thanks!
