A potato is put into an oven that has been heated to 350°F. Its temperature as a function of time is given by T(t) = a(1 - e^-kt) + b. The potato was 50°F when it was first put into the oven. When will the potato reach 150°F? Explain.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

set \(T(t)=150\) and solve for \(t\) i.e. solve \[a(1-e^{kt})+b=150\] which is rather difficult since you do not know \(a, b,\) or \(k\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a=300

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and i think b = 50*e^-kt
