-> use sin^2x = 1 - cos^2x
-> simplify
cos^2x + (1/2)cosx - (1/2) = 0
-> make a substitution u = cosx
u^2 + (1/2)u - (1/2) = 0
-> use quadratic formula
u = (1/4) or (-5/4)
-> substitute back u = cosx
cosx = (1/4) or (-5/4)
-> use a calculator
-> better check my math for mistakes
