if you drop a tennis ball and throw a tennis ball, which one will hit the ground first?

throw the tennis ball directly downward? or throw it upward and let it fall?

If you throw it upward, then the one just dropped will hit first (because the throwing it upward means it has to reach a maximum height before coming down).
If you throw it downward, the tennis ball will have not only gravity acting on it, but the force of the throw as well. So it would hit the ground first.
