6^x = 35

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you trying to find x? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i am

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so \[6^x=35\] What do we need to do to solve for / isolate x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try taking the log on both sides, then you would have \[\log(6)*x=\log(35)\] See what I did here, I just took the log on both sides and got x to be on the same line as the rest of the equation. Read up on log rules if you want to know the details :) Now we just need x to be alone.. hmm?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so to get x alone you have to take the log(6) and subtract? it from log(35)??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait a second there's a multiple sign between \[\log(6)\] and \[x\] So what is the opposite of multiplying?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dividing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you :) i go the answer as 1.98

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bingo!
