what is the diffrence between an atom in the ground state and an atom in an excited state???

ground state the atom is slow moving but when it becomes excited because it just got its first car it starts to move really quickly

Its all about the electrons. In the ground state, they are in the lowest energy conformation (orbitals) possible. In excited state, one or more electrons have moved "up" in energy level.
