Which of the following forces act as the centripetal force which causes an object to exhibit circular motion? a. kinetmatic force b. gravitational c. normal d. centrifugal e. friction f. tension (from a string)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Tension from a string causes the centripetal force and hence, the body moves in a circle. the other forces are just linear

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gravitational force also...Think of why moon revolves around earth

OpenStudy (anonymous):

centripetal force can be any of the force either gravitational or tension depending upon the situation when it causes the body to exhibit circular motion. However, normal force , frictional force and centrifugal forces are the reaction forces ...

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Normal force can also keep a body in a circular motion. Frictional force too: if not, you would not be able to drive you car in a bend!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Agreed, all forces can be centripetal forces. Except that peculiar kinematic force, which I don't know what exactly does it means.

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Centrifugal force is no real force either and does not contribute to circular motion.
