For many common viral diseases, like the cold, and the flu, the best thing that we can do is drink plenty of water, eat healthy foods, get lots of rest, and hope that it goes away without any complications. We can also take medicine to reduce the fever.

There is really no treatment for a virus. Antibiotics have little to no effect on viruses and the symptoms that they cause. Antibiotics kill bacteria, not viruses. Usually viruses don't die, they simply remain dormant for a period of time, sometimes all of ones life. Chickenpox, for example, is a virus caused by herpes zoster virus. The virus goes away and remains dormant, but at any point in time can be activated again. The best cure is simply to let "nature take it's course" and allow your body to handle the virus. Drinking a lot of fluids, getting rest, and drinking fluids high in vitamin C to boost immune system.
