solve the system using the addition method,
If you were to solve the system using the addition method, what would you multiply the first equation by in order to make the y's add out of this system?
-2x + 3y = 6 7x – 6y = 8
I earlier thought, it is not just you.. Ha ha ha... But now I am thinking that it is just you.. ha ha ha..
lol..nice one
There you want to cancel out y or cancel out x ??
x
So for that you have to make the coefficients of x in both the equation to be same.. In first equation, what is the coefficient of x ??
-2?
Yep and for second equation it is 7.. So to make it same : Multiply First equation by 7 and similarly Multiply Second equation by 2.. And tell me what did you get?
Basically in simpler meaning, multiply x coefficients of First equation with Second equation, and multiply x coefficient of Second equation with First equation...
i believe that the answer to my question is 7, since it asked me what I would mulitply the first equation by to make the ys add out in this system. right?
No.. It is first part.. See : To y adds out in this, there are two parts: Firstly multiply first equation with 7.. Secondly multiply second equation with 2...
Oh sorry...
I did not read the question fully.. Yes to first equation, 7 is to be multiplied..
its ok. i learned a lil more :) i appreciate it
Keep it up..
thanks
