What value of x will make the denominator, x+1, equal to zero? The domain will be all x values except that.

The range will be all the possible y values - in this case there is only one y-value which isn't valid. What happens as x gets approaches positive or negative infinity?

Try a huge number for x, say 100,000 

What is 2*100,000/(100,000+1) = ?

What is 2*(-100,000)/(-100,000+1) = ?

Both of those will be very close to, but not equal to a certain number. That number is the only y-value which is not valid, so the range is everything but that value.
