Parth (parthkohli):

A person has been making use of his/her time really “productively” by spamming the chat through different accounts. Thus, I request OpenStudy to get it a little more strict. Here are the new features I want:

Parth (parthkohli):

1) No access to chat before one reaches 35 reputation. 2) No access to the site before confirming email. 3) Disallow posting a chat message if the person posted it 3 seconds or less back.

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

I agree with Parth

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I THINK THIS IS A SMART IDEA BRO

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

lol

mathslover (mathslover):

Not sure about 1st one but I do with 2nd & 3rd. But in a case when a user is not able to verify email account, he/she can not get access to the site is not a good idea but also not a bad one.

Parth (parthkohli):

Uh oh

mathslover (mathslover):

Though third one is a good idea. A few months ago I used to get a message like " Too much messages, wait for .... seconds " I don't know about now ...

Parth (parthkohli):

:)

OpenStudy (swag):

i agree this is a nice idea

OpenStudy (preetha):

Nice discussion. I like 2. Have to think through the rest. A big issue for me is bad behavior on the site. I do not like rude and inappropriate language. How can I reduce that?

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Hey @Preetha Do u need any more ambassadors?

OpenStudy (swag):

i think applying number 2 to the site will really help keep the spammers out.

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

@SWAG How so tho?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Preetha Rude and Inappropriate language could be curbed slightly by utilizing a blacklist(like you guys already are I noticed). Overall moderation is probably the most effective solution. You might be able to promote users to roles that have less power than moderators, but are able to contribute in some way to keep the website clean.

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

@time_to_learn That seems like a legit idea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dmezzullo Thanks. It is always a nice way to increase community interaction. Promoting a valuable member of the community will probably keep them interested in coming back to the website and give others incentive to stick around(to hopefully one day get "promoted" as well)

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

I think 2nd one is legit. I will disagree with the 1st and 3rd though.

Parth (parthkohli):

@saifoo.khan Thanks :) can you delete the comments by @YOUCANTIPBANME?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Done.

Parth (parthkohli):

Thanks :D

imqwerty (imqwerty):

the spammer can also confirm the email address and get 35 SS quiet easily :)
