Explain, in complete sentences, how you would use the substitution method to solve the following system of equations. Provide the solution to the system. 5x - y = -1 7x - 3y = 13 (4 points)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would solve the first equation for \(y\) by writing \[5x+1=y\] then replace \(y\) in the second equation by \(5x+1\) to get \[7x-3(5x+1)=13\] this gives on equation in one variable i imagine you can solve this one, but if you need help let me know

"one equation" i will leave the complete sentences up to you once you have found \(x\) you can find \(y\) easily, since \[y=5x+1\]

i didnt find y...
