-7/8 +1/4 What you want to do is get a common denominator. So, you take 1/4 and multiply both the top and the bottom numbers by 2 that way the denominator is 8 (same as the other fraction). you get 2/8. Then, you can add -7/8 + 2/8 = -5/8
