What is the main idea in the Epic of Gilgamesh?

Gilgamesh is a Sumerian myth Epic of 2500-2100BC. The first written in the world. The main idea is that even a demigod and great king like Gilgamesh cannot cheat death by heroic exploits, that it's a waste of life to try and escape death, instead of spending life building and accomplishing things. Considering it's at least 4500 years old it's a good story to read.
