Has OpenStudy considered threading comments so other users can reply to specific posts? The feedback would be beneficial to all users for discussion.
Time, please explain...
How you just posted, I think it would be beneficial to where I can respond to your specific reply in a threaded format instead of only having the limited ability of a vertical list. Example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Nntp.jpg Source; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conversation_threading Other examples of threading: Reddit.com (click around to view comments there) http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4942129 (links to comments)
Im separating my posts to make a point, that if multiple users continue to contribute to replies that it makes the content hard to view organized. If it was threaded I could easily break down the sections and reply as needed. Reddit's commenting system is a great way to follow the flow of conversation without becoming overwhelming. Furthermore, it creates a great way to continue to add depth to any conversation and contribute more to it.
Hmm. We will look into it. You don't think the way the replies are threaded right now in a question are adequate?
Yes and no. For simple questions it is adequate, but when questions start to receive many answers it becomes inadequate. It becomes inadequate becomes it becomes increasingly hard to navigate the discussion and to know who is replying to who(unless they specifically say so). Threading will provide clean organization and will allow users to contribute replies directly to other people in the conversation in an organized fashion.
