first you subrtract 2q from both sides. leaving you with 18=-7q-3. then you add 3 to both sides, so you have 21=-7q. then you divide both sides by seven leaving you with your answer :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i am confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, i'll show you... 2q + 18 = -5q -3 -2q -2q 18= -7q-3 +3 +3 21= -7q divide both sides by -7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But do you understand why? @chevygirl

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you understand why it's -3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You still need to do some work by hand.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol, I know how to do this in my head haha. I don't need an explanation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am just saying do YOU understand how you get -3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
