Which of the following processes releases most of the chemical energy stored in glucose? A. Calvin cycle B. Cellular respiration C. Glycolysis D. Photosynthesis

OpenStudy (blues):

The first step of this problem is to eliminate the two options which don't release energy from glucose. Do you have any ideas as per which two options those are?

OpenStudy (blues):

The calvin cycle and photosynthesis both have to do with storing energy in chemical bonds, not releasing chemical energy in bonds (as the question specifies), so you know those two are not the answer. Then the key is to focus on which of the two remaining options - glycolysis and cellular respiration - release the most energy. Hope that helps. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cellular Respiration ? Because I know that is releases 34 ATP molecules vs. Glycolysis which releases 2 ATP molecules. @blues

OpenStudy (blues):

That is correct. :)

Thanks ! (:
