how do you find the total magnification?

OpenStudy (athenawolf):

You multiply the objective with the eyepiece. So if your microscope (Assuming this is a typical, school compound light microscope) has a magnification level of 10, with just the eyepiece, and you're looking through the 4x objective lens, the total magnification is 40.
