can someone solve this problem, an experiences accountant can balance the books twice as fast as a new accountant. working together it takes the accountants 6 hours. how long does it take the experienced accountant working alone?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

15h?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the new accountant has rate \(r\) then the experienced one has rate \(2r\) and there combined rate is \(3r\)} we know that \(3r\times 6=1\) that is it takes six hour do do one job solve \(18r=1\) get \(r=\frac{1}{18}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the new accountant can do the job in 18 hours, and the experienced one can do it twice as fast, i.e. in 9 hours

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok, can you solve this one now, factor the polynomial completely, y^4+y^3+y+1
