What is sqrt(9v^2) simplified?

Its part of a longer expression but for some reason I can't figure out how to simplify this. Please explain the process as well.

oh, that would be...3v because 9=3^2, so that comes out of the root as 3, and v^2 comes out of the root as v. so, since they are multiplied inside the root, they are going to be 3v. Ans. 3v
