how do you find the domain and the range of f(x)=sqrt(x)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We only Deal with Real Valued Function....if x is negative then the function is Undefined So Domain = x>=0 Domain = [0 , infinity)

OpenStudy (shamim):

domain will b any positive real number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Range = [0,infinity)

OpenStudy (shamim):

range will b any positive real number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, so the domain and range in this case are basically the same thing because only x is given under the radical and the only thing we can't have is negative numbers?

OpenStudy (shamim):

ya x will not b any negative number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (shamim):

if x is negative then\[\sqrt{x}\] will b complex number
