A statement Sn about the positive integers is given. Write statements S1, S2, and S3, and show that each of these statements is true. Sn: 2 + 5 + 8 + . . . + ( 3n - 1) = n(1 + 3n)/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simply put the value of n on both l.h.s and r.h.s, for ex: for s1, n=1 s2, n=2 and for s3, n=3 Further n represents the no. of terms also, so like for s3 there will be 3 terms(2+5+8)

After putting these values, it will appear that l.h.s = r.h.s
