OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

Find a common denominator of the fraction. The lowest one is 15. So that makes it 6 10/15 + 3 12/15 =9 35/15 =11 5/15 =11 1/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

help the answer is 157/15 but i want the work

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

Did you mean 62/3 + 34/5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the teacher said to show our work for the question and answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do ya knw plz say yes

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

Oh ok. Then make the numbers improper fractions. 6 2/3 + 3 4/5 =20/3 + 19/5 =100/15 + 57/15 =157/15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thankkkkkkk u

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

The answer I said before is the same thing as 157/15, but the answer you said your teacher wants is an improper fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u help me with another question

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

You're welcome

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

Sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 5/6+1 7/18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is 56/9

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

4 5/6 + 1 7/18 =29/6 + 25/18 =87/18 + 25/18 = 112/8 = 14

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

oh wait...

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

I meant 112/18 and then 56/9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok can u help me with more

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

Maybe. How many?

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

Do you kind of get how I did them though? Do you know how to do it yourself?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no its just a practice were learning it tomorrow in skool

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

Oh ok. Do you sort of understand it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kinda

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

To make it an improper fraction I multiplied the whole number by the denominator(the number underneath the line in a fraction.) and added it to the numerator(the number on top of the line) so like for 4 5/6 I multiplied 4x6 and got 24. Then added 5 to it and gor 29/6. To add fractions you have to get the numbers under the line the same. So you multiply a number to the top and bottom to make it match. I did 25/6 times 3 to get the bottom 18. The fraction became 87/18. An improper fraction is when the number on top of the line is bigger than the number under it. Like 87 is bigger than 18, so it's improper.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 2/3+1 6/11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhhhh

OpenStudy (rosedewittbukater):

See if you can try it yourself. If not I can help

OpenStudy (anonymous):
