Finding solutions to a point, please assist

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so I always get these question wrong, and the graphs make no sense to me, can you help me understand?

geerky42 (geerky42):

Sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so in an equation like tan x + sin x = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the solution to the interval at 0,2pi

geerky42 (geerky42):

Do you have to solve this by hand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is multiple choice, but the entire test is filled with them, so I want to learn how to do it, instead of asking for 15 answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so I can use a calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or by hand

geerky42 (geerky42):

It's much easier to solve this using TI calculator. Graph tan x + sin x and 1. You can find approximate numbers by locating the intersection points. Is this help? Is numbers in choices exact or approximate form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just says find all solutions, and all is caps'd

geerky42 (geerky42):

Well, if approximate numbers are accept, then you can find intersection points on graphing calculator and find the solutions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that what I do on all of them?
