how to become a moderator?

From my understanding, the way to become a moderator is to do the following:
1. Make good, valuable contributions to the site
2. Have good rapport with fellow users
3. Have a personality that reflects the best interests of OS
4. Have long period of good standing with OS community i.e. no bans, warnings, conflicts with users
5. Be selected by OS admin
5. Most importantly, never ask "how to become a moderator".
