At noon, ship A is 170 km west of ship B. Ship A is sailing east at 40 km/h and ship B is sailing north at 15 km/h. How fast is the distance between the ships changing at 4:00 PM?

why is x = 170 - 40? As in why do u have to subtract 40 from it

and also where u wrote changing rate and d' and u divided by d. What does d repsresent?

how come since y = 15 then how come x isnt also 40, the speed at which the ship is going
