First of all, 3/9 = 1/3 and 2/12 = 1/6 Find a common denominator, 6, and convert both fractions to have this demoninator 1/3 = 2/6 and put these fractions into the formula c - 1/6 = 2/6 c = 2/6 + 1/6 c = 3/6 c = 1/2
